I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Casa Mara in Cartagena, highlighted by its excellent location within walking distance to the historic center and great restaurants in Getsemani. The rooftop pool was a lovely spot to enjoy the skyline at night, though the rooms were a bit dated and the showers were unpredictable, sometimes providing only cold water. Despite these minor issues, the friendly staff made my experience nice, even going out of their way to prepare breakfast when I overslept.

Rooms
6.0
The room was good-sized and clean, with comfortable bedding. However, it was a bit outdated, and the air conditioning was somewhat noisy but ultimately provided a soothing effect. The shower experience varied; sometimes I had hot water, other times it was unpredictable.
Service
9.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They went above and beyond, helping with breakfast even after I overslept and were always there to assist with any queries I had.
Location

The hotel's location was fantastic, situated on a quiet street yet just a short walk to the vibrancy of Getsemani and the old town. It felt safe, and there were many great dining options close by.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was decent with options like fruit, eggs, and toast made to order. However, the menu lacked variety, as it remained the same each day, which could be improved for longer stays.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel's facilities included a refreshing dipping pool in the courtyard and a rooftop area for relaxation. While the common areas were inviting, improvements could be made regarding access to the concierge during the day.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Casa Mara, which felt like a lovely little sanctuary right in the heart of Getsemani. The location was fantastic, just a short walk from the old town and surrounded by great restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the experience better. However, I did encounter issues with the shower temperature and found the rooms to be on the basic side, which impacted my overall rating.

Rooms
6.0
I found the room to be a good size and clean, but it felt a bit dated, lacking a bedside lamp which made reading difficult in the evening. The shower was also unpredictable, sometimes hot and sometimes cold, which was frustrating.
Service
8.0
The service was definitely a highlight. The staff, especially Diana and her husband, were wonderful—always friendly and willing to help, even preparing breakfast for me after I overslept.
Location

The hotel's location was perfect for exploring, being on a quiet street yet close to bars and restaurants. It was just a 10-minute walk to the historic old town, which made it easy to explore during the day and enjoy the nightlife.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast was made to order, which I appreciated, though the options were quite limited with eggs, toast, and fruit every day. While tasty, I think there could be more variety to keep things interesting.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel featured a refreshing dipping pool in the courtyard and a rooftop area perfect for sunrise views over Cartagena. However, I did notice the need for some refurbishments, especially in the bathrooms.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Casa Mara. The location was ideal, situated in the vibrant Getsemani area with plenty of nearby restaurants and a short stroll to the old town. The service was excellent; the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. However, the room could use some updates, including more modern amenities and better shower control.

Rooms

The room was spacious and clean, but it felt a bit outdated. The shower was unpredictable, sometimes hot and sometimes cold. Additionally, there weren't enough hangers in the closet.
Service
8.0
The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. They even went out of their way to prepare breakfast for me when I overslept. However, they did seem a bit unprofessional at times, especially regarding local restaurant recommendations.
Location

The location was perfect, just a 10-minute walk to the walled city. I loved being in a quiet street yet close to all the action and local character of Getsemani.
Dining

Breakfast was nice and made to order, including eggs, fruit, and juice. While it was healthy, the portion sizes could have been a bit larger.
Facilities

The hotel featured two nice pools, a refreshing dip after exploring. However, there were some accessibility issues, and the amenities felt a bit basic.

5.6/10

My stay at Hotel Casa Mara was quite an interesting experience. On the bright side, the location in Getsemani is fantastic, with plenty of nearby restaurants and bars. The staff were really helpful, even making us breakfast after we overslept. However, I did encounter some issues with the rooms, particularly with the showers, which were inconsistent and sometimes very cold. Overall, the hotel has its charm but also some areas that need improvement.

Rooms
6.0
The room I had was simple, and while it had a decent air conditioning unit trying to combat the humidity, it could use some updates. The bathroom was particularly a problem for me; I struggled with inconsistent water temperature and the slippery tiles caused a nasty fall.
Service
9.0
The service was one of the highlights of my stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready with recommendations for local dining and even accommodating a late breakfast for me one morning.
Location

The location is perfect! I loved that it was a quiet street but still just a short walk from the main attractions in Cartagena. It felt safe and vibrant, with so many great places to eat nearby.
Dining

Breakfast was okay; I appreciated the made-to-order eggs and fresh fruit, though I found the options a bit limited. It had a homey feel, which I liked, but I expected a bit more variety.
Facilities

The hotel has a lovely rooftop pool which was great for relaxing, but it could benefit from better maintenance. It also has a swimming pool in the courtyard which I enjoyed on hotter days.

During my stay at Hotel Casa Mara, I found the location to be perfect—on a quiet street in lively Getsemani and just a short walk from the historic old town. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, even making breakfast for me when I overslept. The rooftop pool offered a great view, especially at night. However, I did experience some issues with the showers being inconsistent in temperature, and the rooms were a bit outdated. Overall, it was a decent value for the price.

Rooms
